Exceeding Maximum Executron Time

PHP is embedded in Apache. I've tried everything now but MySql keeps coming up with the same massage: FATAL ERROR: Maximum execution time exceeded at line ....! There has been a search on a database, myswl reports that it has found a number of rows but doesn't display them only the same error. Anyone got an idea on how to get rid of this fatal error?
